Hi! My name is Zara!
I’m an MSCS student at Northeastern specializing in data science and recommender systems. I built Luxxify, an end-to-end personalized makeup recommender using custom-scraped data and models. With a strong foundation in algorithms, causal inference, and information retrieval, I’m passionate about building intelligent, user-centered systems.
About Myself
I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Computer Science at Northeastern University, where I focus on data science and machine learning, particularly recommender systems. One of my most meaningful projects is Luxxify, a personalized beauty recommendation engine I built from the ground up. I designed everything, from scraping data and modeling user preferences to developing the NLP pipeline and deploying the interface. Through this, I’ve deepened my skills in Python, embeddings, classification models, and user personalization.
In addition to hands-on projects, I’ve taken courses like Algorithms, Causal Inference, and Information Retrieval, which have strengthened my understanding of both foundational theory and practical modeling techniques. I’m drawn to projects that combine data, user behavior, and personalization—and I’m looking for opportunities where I can create impactful, data-driven experiences at scale.
